Canton, Texas – May 12, 2008 Legacy Dental Group announced today the awarding of the Second-Annual Legacy $5,000 Scholarship will take place on Friday, May 16 at the Legacy Dental care center and office.

Dr. Gerard Macy, spokesman for the group explained that last year was the first year to present this award.  "We have a vision to give one of these awards each year to a deserving Canton High School graduating Senior.  And although this year is our second year to give the award, it's very special to us because we are presenting it at our office during a special award ceremony.  We have invited leaders from the school board, the district, and leaders from the city to be at this event.  We are really excited."

Macy continued, "This year's recipient does not know who they are, so it will be exciting to see their face when we hand them the check."

The doctors at Legacy know how difficult it can be just affording college, much less maintaining good enough grades to get into a good dental school. Dr. Ben Bratcher explained, “We all have a passion for continuing education. And each of us knows first hand what a challenge it is keeping focused on studies while in school. So we decided we wanted to offer some help to one student each year who’s intent it is to become a dentist.”

Dr. Glenn Stern calls it giving back. “The community of Canton and the surrounding area has been so good to our business, we really wanted to do something to reinvest in the area and the trade. An annual scholarship for a future dentist was what we came up with, and we really couldn’t be any happier with this decision.”
